San Miguel County Community Wildfire Protection Plan
Prepared specifically for San Miguel County, this document has the following primary purposes:
Provide a comprehensive, scientifically-based analysis of wildfire related hazards and risks in the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) areas of San Miguel County and a portion of Montrose County within the Norwood Fire Protection District.
Using the results of the analysis, generate recommendations designed to prevent and/or reduce the damage associated with wildfire to values in the study area.
Create a Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) document that conforms to the standards for CWPPs established by the Healthy Forest Restoration Act (HFRA) and the Colorado State Forest Service.
This plan will complement local agreements and existing plans for wildfire protection and aid in implementing a seamless, coordinated effort in determining appropriate fire management actions in the study area.
